[Democrat] candidates’ records don’t merit election

Candidates’ records don’t merit election

Posted: Tuesday, September 23, 2014, Burlington County Times

Burlington County Democrats have done it again, nominating two longtime politicians with a history of higher taxes, more spending and bigger government for freeholder seats. When will they learn?

The public records of Edgewater Park’s Tom Pullion and Evesham’s Mike Schmidt (no, not that Mike Schmidt) reveal two politicians who are out of touch with what middle-class Burlington County residents care about.

Pullion and Schmidt have both raised taxes, and both profited from public service via a taxpayer-funded salary, benefits and/or pension for a part-time, elected position. In fact, Schmidt was booted from local office after voting to impose a massive tax hike on homeowners, while at the same time pocketing nearly $70,000 in health benefits for him and his family at taxpayer expense.

Bottom line: Unless you are a rabid partisan Democrat, it’s hard to see a valid reason to replace the current freeholder majority with politicians like Pullion and Schmidt. Their records simply don’t merit election to county office.

Thank you to Karen Smith for submitting this honest assessment of our opponents records. While their track record is one that relies on raising your taxes, we have been working hard, and will continue to work hard, to keep your County portion of your property tax bills the lowest in the region! The choice is clear this November, a vote for Bruce Garganio & Mary Ann O’Brien, is a vote for continued lower taxes!
