Navy SEAL and Combat Veteran Ryan Peters to Join Kate Gibbs on Burlington County Republican Freeholder Ticket

Peters, a Hainesport resident, will replace Mt. Holly Mayor Rich DiFolco

Ryan PetersMount Holly, March 9, 2015 – Hainesport resident Ryan Peters will replace Mt. Holly Mayor Rich DiFolco on the Burlington County Republican’s Freeholder ticket this year and run with Kate Gibbs against incumbent Democrats Aimee Belgard and Joanne Schwartz.

Peters is a Navy SEAL who saw multiple combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, and is currently a Lieutenant Commander in the Naval Reserve, assigned to SEAL Team Eighteen. Peters is an associate with Pepper Hamilton LLP in Philadelphia, concentrating his practice in commercial litigation, with a particular focus on arbitration, breach of contract litigation, international matters and class action litigation. Peters is also a certified anti-money laundering specialist with experience in Anti-Money Laundering compliance and internal investigations.

“Public service is incredibly important to me and I am honored to have the opportunity to run for Freeholder this year with Kate Gibbs on the Republican ticket,” said Peters, who received his J.D., cum laude, from Rutgers School of Law in Camden in 2012, where he was editor-in-chief of the Rutgers Journal of Law and Religion, President of the Student Bar Association, and a Legislative Fellow at the Eagleton Institute of Politics. After graduating from Holy Cross High School in Delran, Peters received a B.S. in political science, cum laude, from the United States Naval Academy in 2004 where was the captain of the Division I varsity soccer team and a Fellow at the Naval Academy Foreign Affairs Conference.

“I look forward to speaking with and listening to every county resident I can meet between now and November about what’s important to them. I don’t expect them to hand me their vote; I expect to earn it. Whether it was serving in combat overseas or working to put myself through law school, I know all about hard work and have never shied away from it.”

Peters and his wife Stacy, who was born in Edgewater Park and graduated from Lenape High School, have three children: Kaylee (7), Kevin (4), Benjamin (almost 2). Peters also serves on the Board of Directors for the Liberty USO of Pennsylvania and South Jersey.

Kate Gibbs earned the party’s endorsement several weeks ago. She received her Master’s in Business Administration from Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Prior to that, Gibbs earned her B.A. from The American University in Washington, DC, graduating Cum Laude with a Double Major in Public Communications and Political Science. She works in Business Development for the Engineers Labor-Employer Cooperative, a collaborative trust that represents the interests of Local 825 Operating Engineers and focuses on promoting economic development in our region and the entire State.
